Workshop Paper Stories
In the “Paper Stories” workshop, the children create their own figures and tell their stories through pictures. We work with collages, just like the artist Henri Matisse: we tear and cut out colorful pieces of paper and glue them together to form animals. You don’t have to be able to draw, because there is no “right” way to do it: with simple shapes and a little imagination, you can create something unique. In the end, each child takes home their own little book.
Urban Art Kids’ guest is illustrator Cynthia Alonso. The award-winning Argentinian illustrator and graphic designer, who now lives in Berlin, has illustrated over a dozen international children’s books since 2016, including “Whirlwind”, “The Reader”, “Aquarium” and “The Yellow Handkerchief”. Her colourful, expressive work has won awards from the Society of Illustrators and the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, among others โ and at the workshop, she shares her enthusiasm for paper, colour and shapes directly with the children.
